Reading other threads about accessing the front hatch while on the water reminded me of a small issue last year. I got to the launch after an hour's drive, and discovered I forgot to load my pfd! Had everything else. I have numerous paddle and one power boat, so stuff gets moved a lot.

Short drive to Walmart nearby luckily, bought a cheap pfd, and now it stays in the storage year round as a spare/backup. I just leave it in there. Potential for use as loaner, extra, paddle float, emergencies, etc etc. Doesn't rattle, scratch, featherweight, etc. Hard to argue with that, no downsides, all good !

Outstanding and often overlooked tip.
Cheap insurance as well.

Cheers

And if you do something that causes the boat to fill with water, it creates a little additional flotation.

Thanks! I have an extra old PFD out in the garage. I think it will go into the front storage area today.
