Chief (Steve Isaac), the real chief of the WaterTribe, has a confirmed registration for the 2013 Everglades Challenge. He will be using an Adventure Island! This is an amazing transformation for the strong promoter of the Kruger boats w/ Balogh sail. I think everyone was a bit surprised when Chief put his Kruger up for sail last year. Now we know why.

The 2013 EC begins at 7 am, Saturday, Mar 2 in Ft Desoto, St. Petersburg, FL. If you plan to go to the launch, Friday afternoon (Mar 1) is when all the prep is occurring, lots of boats and people on the beach. This is a small boat happening, maybe the small boat happening of the year. Hobie's Jim Czarnowski & his wife (Ocean Deva) are entered with a Hobie AI Tandem. My guess is that he will be showing off a jib and who knows what else.

Our own CaptnChaos (Jim Quinlan) and Dogslife (Paul Kral) will be at the start. There are now 8 Islands in the EC race: 6 AIs, 2 tandems. The Ultra Marathon (a 60 mi,) which starts at the same time and place as the EC, has 3 Islands.

Keith

Once he makes continual headway with the Mirage Drive he'll be a believer, if he's not already.

I have known for several months that Chief was leaning the Hobie way. We sent me a e-mail asking questions about AI vs TI. Since I have done both in a Watertribe Race the answer was simple for me. I hear that there will be some kind of Hobie prize in this year's EC. Are you wishing you registered when you had the chance???

I'd love to give it a go, bit far from Australia though...
