This is going to make it a whole lot more difficult to ask for a vintage color pattern re-issue because I contacted my dealer about a custom sail and he emailed a color palette that has 13 sail cloth colors, with four shades of red. With these colors available many of the old patterns may be reproduced as a custom sail, except the ones with the prism stripe.

Go nuts!

Could you post the current color pallet? I'm curious if it would be possible to remake my boomer sails.

optikid, You missed my point. I agree that most of the European sail look much better than whats in the American catalog!!!

The new designs are a killer high-tech performance look.....

My question was how are the Hobie Europe sails different? SIZE, MATERIAL, Batten number or placement?

Corkguy flying 85 Fantasia, 85 National Red,

My vote for a re-issue would be 85 National Red, 85 National Purple

they are not different because they are class legal, they are the exact same except for the patterns

Wow! I could probably get pretty close to the boomer sail colors with those. Now if I could come up with $2000...

Sell your current sails and you'll need to come up with maybe $1500.

Good point. Did they give you an estimate on build time?

Sorry for threadjacking, hopefully this information is helpful to everyone on this board.

I'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy new sails for my 16 in the next year or so. I wish there were more options.
Take a look at the six colors in Hobie's sail loft now: White, red, blue, green, yellow, gray. If you're getting new sails and don't like the patterns offered off the shelf then take some initiative and creativity and spend the extra couple bux and get a custom pattern. I'm thinking of doing it for my 18. I'd like a red, white, yellow pattern. Maybe a blue, white, yellow one?

Shoot. . . a stock Hobie sail already stands out from the crowd, why not stand out in the Hobie crowd? Maybe you can get some ideas from here:

Does anyone know of a similar link to the above but for the older European Sail Colors?

I hate white sails!

Eat your hearts out!!! Upper Management (aka "my wife") approved an order for a custom sail!!! I've revived sail pattern number 51 from the pattern history guide. Now I'll be bringing up the rear of the racing fleet in style instead of boring white.

If only they still made brown. I would actually pay for a brown sail like this:

custom when it was made, might as well make another one off.

Are you trying to ruin my marriage? I already have two mistresses made of fiberglass and aluminum.
