During an inspection of the boat, I noticed one of the screws that attach the chain plate to the hull is loose. I tried to tighten it but it just kept turning. I am assuming the thread or the screw is stripped? It there a plate glassed inside the hull? What is the recommended repair??

Nut and washer inside. You would have to install an inspection port to tighten. Likely the glass has compressed or the bolt has stretched a bit. Silicone and leave it alone I'd bet would be fine.

Before you leave it and let it be, take a look at the inside full length plate. I had one fail on my boat. That left only the short outside plate and one screw holding the rig. If OK, then Matt is probably right, the load on one screw is not going to change much by tightening. I was lucky, all the screws on both hulls came out and returned cleanly. Also note, one screw and that "helper" plate had been holding the rig for a while, as the cracked part was clearly rusty from time apart.

By the way, all broken parts on my boat were either caused by or contributed to by Matt Miller, and yet the boat lives on. (not 100% accurate, but close)

:)

I only admit to being an accomplice in wearing out Mike's boat.

I have same issue with loose chain plate bolts. THree loose on one side. Where is best location for inspection port install??? Directly in line with chain plate on topside deck? or on opposite top side of hull?

There is a bulkhead about 8" aft of the dagger well, so small space to work in. Placement of a port would be aft and possibly outboard of the well... ahead of that bulkhead.
