Awesome Gaz...I'd buy one tomorrow if it were commercial.

I just received the evolve2 motor & will probably mount in mirage drive.

Where do you get the tube that connects the motor/prop to your mounting device? Same Q for the extended power cable.

Was that direct from Torqeedo?

Problem with the Evolve on the PA is that you can't use the rear mount. You can only use it in the Mirage Drive hole. Have to order the Torqeedo ......... got mine from Hook1 ....... to get the rear mount that has the bar and ball mount.

Dang, nice job. Are you a machineish by trade?

No, I did the drawing and sent it to machine shop to do the work for me.

Mem: Correct, no motor steering, but I prefer it that way. I only use the rudder steering which for me works fine and usually I hardy ever need to turn tight. In fact it makes it goes straight which means I dont need to steer all the time and I can cast and fish hands free. If I want to turn more I can also peddle at the same time as the motor and that makes it turn more and quicker.

Some bad news this year however. The battery and motor got some water in it. they are back at the shop for repair. :(

Gaz ...good to hear from you again buddy ... as I said before ...... you da man ....... great engineering job.

I tried to lock mine down and had all kinds of problems ....... but I didn't have a device like yours. First, if it wasn't EXACTLY straight it would pull to 1 side at the higher speed. Even with it exactly straight, it would pull to 1 side very hard if there was anything in the water to the point that I could only turn in 1 direction at high speed and could barely hold it straight when the rudder was turned hard to the opposite side that it was pulling. In addition, It would only turn if you had some speed and the turn was wide at that because the rudder was in front of the engine.

But that was with my set up.

Hooking it to the steering drum solved all of that. Now it turns on a dime even at low speed because it essentially has 2 rudders ...... the Hobie rudder and the engine. Also, the simple mounting setup that Torqeedo has (the we lamented about for months) really makes sense and is efficient and simple ....... all by drilling 2 holes and using the Hobie steering drum.

I should have pictures by this weekend.

Gaz ....... sorry to hear about the engine ......... that shouldn't have happened because they are sealed units.
