I need some help from the community of evolve motor owners.

I ordered a spare prop from the dealer on February 7th this year. I figured that where I fish (lots of oyster beds & sand bars), I would need a spare eventually since I expect that I will ding the prop up eventually.

It's now almost 2 months since my dealer placed the order & his Hobie parts contact keeps saying it is on backorder, hasn't come in yet & can't give an estimated delivery.

I emailed Torqeedo USA to see if they might have a prop in stock, but they advised it was only available thru the dealer.

Does anyone have any experience with ordering spares from Hobie for the Evolve? Something seems fishy?...pun intended!

Another question that neither the dealer nor his parts contact at Hobie was able to answer concerned the fittings. There is a nut, 2 spring washers & a pin that are the fittings assocaited with holding the prop in place. I was wondering if this was part of "the prop kit"....if there is such a thing...or whether I should order them separately.

Anyone know?

Thanks in advance.

There is no "prop kit", so order separately.

The prop is a Hobie design, so not available through Torqeedo. Fits through the well and is more efficient.

I'll look into the delay.

Thank you, Matt, for your reply & for checking into the delay.

Would you share the part numbers that I can give to the dealer for the associated parts?

Thanks again.

Last year I was able to obtain a spare Evolve Drive propellor from ACK in Texas part # 72021108. What I was not able to obtain were spare shear pins. When I tried to order them I was sent a part #72021109 (this part responds to a magnet) and is much shorter and of larger diameter than the propellor shear pin and is an internal part of the evolve drive. I finally took my original to a local machinest who made six for me. The shear pins are not magnetic and are made of stainless steel. The nuts are stainless 10mm with plastic inserts and the spring washers as well are available at any quality fastener establishment or hardware store. I must also tell you that while I have used the Evolve extensively for two years I can't imagine breaking this propellor, even with a collision with a rock without doing more serious damage to the drive itself i.e. rupturing drive shaft seals etc. I hope this information is of value to you.

When I bought my small motor 3 yrs ago, I thought the same thing about the plastic prop and ordered a spare prop because I run in shallow water a lot, and there are a lot of oyster beds around here also. Well three yrs later that spare prop is still sitting in the garage. I'm actually surprised how well the plastic props hold up, as long as you use common sense, in really shallow water I tilt the motor 15 or 20 degrees, this helps save your prop.
Hope this helps you.

Thanks for the feedback fusion...unfortunately, I can't tilt my evolve as it is locked in place in the mirage drive of my PA 14.

Very valuable & helpful LAMEDUCK....appreciate the insight. thanks.

Matt...I checked with my Hobie dealer & he says my order for a spare prop is STILL ON BACKORDER with no estimated delivery. When I told him you advised ordering the fittings separately, he was unable to identify the part numbers in his dealer catalog. I asked him to check with the Hobie parts department.

The fittings I am referring to are:

one nut .... secures prop to motor drive shaft.
two spring washers
one shear pin.

Can you calrify the part numbers please?

(It seems as I may have to go the route of LAMEDUCK).

I just wonder why Hobie doesn't have these Maintenance parts catologged?

Appreciate any help you can give so I can be prepared for fishin' season happening any day now.
