Is steering a must with having a rudder?

No. The existing rudder will steer fine. But if your have the motor rigged to steer, you can turn the PA on a dime.

Like I said though, this is a prototype and I've already begun to make design improvements. I think I will scrap this one and start over. The new one will have full retraction, kickback, and steering. It will also be easily detachable.

So are you still going to redo your system to make those improvements?

Also is the actuator and trolling motor made for use in saltwater?
