Hi, everyone,

At long last, I'll be picking up my new 2013 PA14 next month. I've been reading the forums for a while now, and I see a bunch of different places to buy accessories, particulary the RAM mount and Gear Trac items, as well as other kayak accessories. As it seems that these items can be had from a number of places, is one better than another, in terms of price, customer service, etc? I've been looking at Hobie directly, then other places like YakAttack, West Marine, and others. All opinions and advice are welcome!

Thanks,
Larry

If you have a local Hobie dealer, buy from them. The prices are the same as Austin.

Another vote for Austin Canoe and Kayak, but for non-Hobie accessories. Tons of RAM, Scotty & Yak Attack products.

They have monthly 10% to 15% discount coupons (valid for one item per order). You also get another 15% to 20% coupon enclosed with your order. Oh, and free shipping for orders over $39. If you pace your orders you can save A LOT of money by not ordering everything at once. Great customer service too.

Hobie branded products cost the same wherever you buy them & are usually not subject to discount. Just buy them locally if possible.

Look up the part number in the hobie catalog and use the search on the backyard boat web site. They have yet to not stock what I've been looking for and ship quick. Prices are competitive.

+1 on Backyard Boats.

Bought my i12s from them & many Hobie accessories. Super fast order processing & nice people.

If your buying Hobie branded stuff, go to a local dealer. Prices are fixed from Hobie. Sometimes if you join the local kayak club three may be some deals through a local dealer. Other stuff check the Internet, Austin is good hook 1 is also good. If money is an object post what your looking for on local forums, many kayakers have a garage full of stuff they would like to sell. Enjoy your new boat.
