I have a buddy who lives in ocean springs, MS and wants me to come down for a visit this summer, and I would love to finally get a boat going in the gulf. Anywhere a traveler can launch a 16? I know about OSYC do they allow guests?

Thanks

I can't speak for OSYC, but I have repeatedly heard those in charge give open invitations to any visitors (and their boats). It's good form to spend a few bucks at the bar to reciprocate (the food's fine, too!). Contact the OSYC Fleet Captain, Andrew, at [email protected] (tell him I sent ya'). Better yet, come down Memorial Weekend for a sail out to Ship Island as part of the Slip Tp Ship Regatta:

OSYC would definitely be best, but, if you'd rather use a public ramp, the only one that I'm aware of and that would be good for a cat is on Hwy 90 across the bridge from OS near the Biloxi YC. There you are putting into the channel between Biloxi and Deer Island, better known as Casino Row.

As Andrew said it on another forum....."come join the brotherhood." I must warn you, however....it may mean you'll never be able to make other plans on Memorial Weekend!

In the 80s (like many places I'm sure) there were a number of Hobie rental spots between Biloxi and Pass Christian. A lot of personal Hobies beached where the casinos are now. Check the parking where the Biloxi Lighthouse is located for a put in spot... you'll need wheels though.

If you don't want to launch at the OSYC you can launch from the courthouse pier. Its on 90 between Gulfport and Biloxi across from courthouse rd. That's where I launch my H16
