Winds are around 13 but feels like a lot more. Past two days was 20-30. No way I was even gonna think about it. Would not even get my stunt kite out!!!!!

Yes you should! That looks perfect to me. I don't even see many white caps. I get a little uncomfortable much over 20, but 10 to 18 is the best of times in my book.

Right now, I just want to get comfortable on it. Been almost 20 years since I sailed. Will worth about speed later

Mast rake won't necessarily give you speed it will give you more control in big wind, it will keep the bows out of the water.

You're at Gulf Shores, right? Wind is WSW? That should keep the surf break down some.....getting in and out of that is the biggest concern. Grab a crew to make sure you have enough weight to right it and give it a try! When I've been in that area on high wind/surf days, we'd put in at the end of that road (Marina?) that Tacky Jacks is on in Orange Beach and sail in Perdido Bay. Have fun!

Had better time today. Wind from the same direction. More from the west. Had one rudder cam that got rotated and could not get rudder locked down, that was a lot of fun. Dropped the crew (wife and daughter) and went back out for a bit. Went a lot better and more things started to "click". I need to measure the ropes, They seem a bit on the long side. Feel like I getting tangled up too much. Also had some trouble Tacking into the wind. Image
