Yesterday was my first solo on my new to me 16. Pretty breezy conditions and my la ofck of experience gave my 2 pitchpoles in the first 10 min. First one.....ok. second one? Cartwheeld and turtles instanly! Definetly a differnt aspect of sailing. It was pretty awsome!!!!! Please share your picthpole storys!!!!

me and my brother pitch poled in February. going down wind I saw the tip start dip under, knowing what was about to happen I just close my eyes for a second. I ended up 10 ft past the front of the jib and on the other side of my brother in freezing cold water. It was awesome!, once I knew my boat wasn't broken or any thing. worst thing about it, lost the rest of the beer out of the cooler. :cry:

This is a new guys first time on a Hobie... He wanted out on the wire and was struggling on the North side of the lake in a south wind due to the big waves.. Ok.. So knowingly I head for the flatter water on the south side of the lake... The geography on the south side makes it VERY puffy with the gusts often coming from wildly different directions.. You can sail there for a long time and everything will be fine... and then BAM!!

I knew better..
