Went out yesterday to put "Flop Jack" thru her paces after the mods. New 22mm Harken traveler, shortened shrouds and longer forestay (block to block on main), Harken Carbo Ratchet Low profile Blocks and new Jib. needless to say, she is way over powered now for the 28-33's I was in yesterday. Couple of observations; 1. If you dump, get away from the tramp as it will come down and turtle on your head in just a few seconds. You DON"T want to be trapped under it. It WILL turtle in big wind. 2. If you're going to be stupid and attempt a jibe, at least try to do it right. Good luck on that one in sustained 30+! 3. If it turtles, don't panic. Contrary to what many say, you will be able to right it from turtle in 60 seconds or less. Just grab the righting line, sit on the leeward hull (feet on tramp), lean back and be patient. She WILL come! Air temp-45 degrees. Water temp- 50 degrees. Snowing as I was coming off the water. A perfect day!
She's fast. So fast it felt like the whole boat was going to fly apart! Not joking!
Aside from my left ankle swollen like a baseball, It was a great day!
