I purchased my PA14 yesterday as well as the Stohlquist Fishermen PFD. Does anyone else have this PFD? If so, do you like it? Or would you recommend a different PFD?

I bought this PFD as it was the best one I could find at all of the local shops.
My one complaint would be that it rides up from my belly to my chest all the time.
I read several posts on the web making this same complaint and some attribute it to the lack of a strap and buckle at the front/bottom of the PFD.

I would like to have tried out the NRS Chinook but there was no local stock of them.

Couple years ago they use my picture in their advertisement for this PFD. I was wearing this particular vest in the picture. Since then I have gone to the Mustang self inflatable. They wouldn't even acknowledge that they had jacked my picture.

You are talking Stohlquist not Hobie right? We sell the Fisherman model with a Hobie brand on it too.

It was the Stohlquist. Is there a difference between the 2?

Just our logo... and that I wanted to be sure we didn't use a customer's image in an ad for it.

I used a Stohlquist Fisherman PFD when I paddled my previous kayak...I switched to inflatables when I got the Hobie. I still break it out and wear it for certain conditions (offshore, etc).

I will be fishing primarily in the bays, surf, and offshore. I really won't be using it much or if at all for Fresh Water applications.

Put my new PA14 in the water for the first time yesterday. Very pleased. I also tried my new Cabela's Guardian Series Inflatable 3500 PFD out yesterday.
Very happy with the PFD. Wore it for 4 hours of boat testing. Very comfortable and never got in the way. I have trouble with the standard PFDs being way too hot. The Cabela's unit was cool and comfortable.
Can't wait to go again.
