Looking forward to it! Can you give us a heads up on the dates and venue? Life here in Knoxville is good, but I miss sailing with you guys back in Louisiana/Texas.

The event will be held at the DALLAS CORINTHIAN YACHT CLUB on Lake Lewisville over the Memorial Day 2013 weekend...This is a wonderful oasis on lots of water!
The two story club house has showers, swimming pool, free camping, lots of grass to launch from and an amazing atmosphere.
Look forward to seeing you there...

I've been to several Fleet 23 regattas over the past few years. They always put on a great event, have awesome parties, and Dallas Corinthian Yacht Club is a fantastic place to sail. You'll have a great time at Mid Americas.

Can I bring my dogs and park in the parking lot with my truck camper?

There is limited truck camping and dogs are welcome provided you follow standard dog etiquette practices...
Look forward to seeing you there...

Here is the video I took of the Greg Thomas Seminar. All I had was my Go pro... So I set it up and let it run. I also did not do any editing or enhancing..

But I think anyone who races Hobie's would be able to watch this and learn something.

Thanks for posting the video Ron.
Greg is an excellent racer, and a very approachable guy.he and Karen should have actually won the N.A. On a 16 in Fort Walton Beach.Unfortunatly Karen hurt herself and could not continue.Greg was very cool about the whole misfortune.
Did he race in the Event?

Nope.... He only raced Saturday... there was a GREAT party Saturday night  Given how he ran away from the fleet on Saturday, he still netted a third...

At the first race, given my experience/skill level, it was quite clear moments after the first start I was going to be doing good to finish on the same leg of the race as Greg! I wasn't about to miss the seminar.

Yes.... he talks about that in the video... IIRC .... and it seemed to sound like he was going to stay there because the challenge of the simplicity of the boat was attractive... Or something like that.. :D

Here are a bunch of the Pictures for the event...

This email from Laurie Cronan

Hey all you race fans:

We now have most ALL of the Mid-America's pictures posted on sites where you can download them (free). There are a total of THREE different sites with hundreds of photos taken. You will SURELY find many many that you want. PLEASE share this email with anyone you may want it. I did not have the email addresses for some of the crew, etc.

You can start at:

http://msn.smugmug.com/Boats/Hobie-Cat- ... &k=H3k4ftD

From this site, you can see the pictures Marie Nuchols took (DCYC Amateur) as well as find the links to the pictures that Andrew Burnard & Steve Foxall took AND various pictures combined on the shutterfly site. Look for their links -OR- you can go to the other sites directly via the links below:

If you want to go directly to the Steve Foxall pics, they are: https://picasaweb.google.com/hobiefleet ... egatta2013
and the shutterfly share site is: http://hobiemidamericas2013.shutterfly.com/4

You should have NO problem finding pictures that you would like to keep. ALL are free if you take the time to download them.

I would like to give a SPECIAL THANK YOU to:

Steve Foxall with Steve Foxall Photography (http://stevefoxallphotography.com/) He provided the equipment for Andrew Burnard to take MANY of the awesome pics he did. Steve took many candids during the weekend as well.

Marie S. Nuchols is a budding amateur photographer and DCYC member. Her pics are on the smugbug site. You can find Marie at https://www.facebook.com/pages/MSN-Phot ... 0411723883

and thank you to the many people who may freely post and share pics via the shutterfly site.

I hope you all had as much fun at the event as I did. I need a WEEK of vacation to recover (but sadly won't get it).

Laurie
