For those of you who have an anchor trolley set up and anchor to fish, how do you manage your anchor line/rope? I have 75' of 1/4" braided poly, and need a way to manage the line easily when anchoring or storing the rope. Thinking about some sort or reel to store the anchor line on to manage it easier, but it will need to fit into an 8" hatch in my Hobie Revolution.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

In years past I used the Attwood Anchor Reel. Not sure it would hold 70+ feet of line??? It's an easy install with it being mounted on the inside of your kayak. Only one hole to drill....

I use a reel for storing electric cord. I have 300' of 1/4" on the reel and I could put more. The one I have is quite similar to this one.

Islandspeed2001,

The Atwood intrigues me. Do you use it with a trolley and would it be possible to see a photo or two of how it is rigged? Thanks.

Don't use an anchor line anymore due to fishing shallow waters all the time. Also, guess I have deleted all the pics I had of this install. As regards line rigging, I simply ran the line from the reel through my anchor trolly ring which allowed me to move the anchor from front to back. Once I got the trolly in position, I would cleat the anchor line to keep it in position.

The only downside of the reel is the safety factor. If you get hung, you may find yourself in the position of having to cut the anchor line to free yourself.

I found an empty Ande 5000 yard line spool that works perfect. Six inches in diameter, lightweight, and holds the 75' of anchor rode perfectly. Inserted a short length of 1/2" cpvc and glued a 'T' on one end, then added another unglued 'T' to the other end and it works great.
