I was looking at some pictures of PA's on Amazon and noticed that the older model seems to not be as wide as the new model or was it an optical illusion. I looked for some old specs but could find none.

Hello!

Because I don't throw anything out, I still have an old catalogue here... It says it is 38" wide which is the same as the new model. It is definitely an optical illusion, I knew what you meant as soon as I read your post, though I checked to be sure. The new seat sits up and is more... airy looking for lack of a better word. Since you see more of the width, it looks wider. It's not broken up by the cutting hatch, either.

Hope that helps.

I have a 2010 PA14 which I just went out and measured. 38 1/2 inches at the gunwales at mid seat. I believe it was 39 inches in the literature of the time. And that could easily be as there is some tumblehome on the sides at that point.
