Just picked up a replacement hull without any soft spots to put in place of my old one riddled with softness. Need to paint it to match the other side. The hull currently has striping from bow to stern, just below the deck. Also need to change out the registration numbers. Any recommendations for the best/easiest/quickest way to get the strips off are much appreciated.

A hair dryer will loosen up the adhesive and you can usually just pull them off in a couple of pieces. I removed stripes from a boat last weekend and the Florida sun loosened up the adhesive enough to peal them off without any exttra heat.

Also, 3m makes a stripe remover wheel that I have heard works well.

Be really careful with a razor though. I have accidentally made little scratches in the hulls from using a razor. It probably won't matter though if you're going to paint the hulls anyway.

If they are too old and don't come off well with heat, use the 3M rubber stripe eraser that PurdueZach mentioned. We use them at the car dealership all the time to remove adhesive residue.
