Just looking for some opinion on a tear in a used jib. it's about 4 or 5 inches or so -- given that it is vertical and not a typical case of stitching coming loose at a seam, I'm not sure on what the best method for fixing it would be (or if rips of this nature are even ones that can be repaired). I'd appreciate any thoughts...

I'd take it to a sailmaker for repair, it's not expensive. Is it from sun damage or flogging in the wind unsecured? In the meantime, some sail tape to stop the tear from spreading.
