Hy!
I once sailed the Hobie15 at winds ~7bft and it was just easy. With my Hobie 16 at 6-7bft I feel a little overpowered..and everybody keeps telling me the sail of the Hobie 16 is not made for winds >7 and that I should not go out at that winds. But i want to :) !
Is there a Sail for the Hobie16 thats similar to the one of the Hobie 15, smaller and maybe without boom - a "storm sail"?
Thx

Link is not working for me, but I think by Hobie 15 you are talking about a Wave, which has a boomless sail. I asked this question of my Hobie dealer, and apparently the mast is relatively further forward on the Wave so that the block ties in well to the rear of the sail so you can operate it without a boom. However on the 16 the block ties to the tramp forward of the rear of the sail so you need a boom to hold a reasonable sail shape. Others have shortened a regular 16 sail vertically to the reefing points so it is like reefing but cleaner. I suppose you could shorten a regular 16 sail horizontally?

Hobie 15 is a European boat:

Unfortunately, there aren't that many people on this forum with Hobie 15 experience - thus the lack of response / confusion (most of us are in North America).

yes, thats the 15 :)

i just want to know if there are any alternative sails for the 16? i thought of the 15 sail, as it is smaller and has no boom, so to me it appears at a good alternative for heavy winds. i dont mind the boom, but i really would love smaller sails:)
