Do I remember reading somewhere that people were running their jib traveler control lines over to the opposite shrouds so that they could move them without going to the leeward side? I was thinking maybe run a line almost the entire length to the shroud and then splicing a shock cord at the end before attaching to the shroud so that it is easy to cleat/uncleat the line.

I just added the Hobie kit on my old 1980. One of the best upgrades I have made. I just tied the lines to the opposite shrouds. Lil bungee may be a good idea though as the lines are juuuust long enough so can get a missed uncleat now n then.

I have my jib sheet cut in two. It is then looped back to the traveler line on each side putting the jib sheet and traver for each side in the hands of the crew at all times . This also very easily allows traveling the jib from the wire. It is useful in plenty of situations.

The only thing I don't like about it is that the lazy sheet isn't just right there in your hand when sailing solo. Mildly annoying at times, but my wife loves the jib setup so well I refuse to complain while flying solo
