I always install my mirage drive just before going into the surf or at a boat ramp while the wheels are still on. I grab one of the tension cords on the front hatch with my left hand and raise the boat up high enough to drop the turbofin drive in the drive well with my right hand. I tighten down the cam locks. I grab the pedal closest to the bungee pull it back and set the hull down on the sand, then I hook the bungee on the pedal stem so the fins/sails hug the hull. I then pull the kayak out into deeper water so I can pull the wheel cart off under the boat, disassemble and and stow the cart in three parts inside the front hatch. Then I position myself in about crotch deep water and watch the waves coming in to get a sense of the timing. Then I time jumping into the seat to ASAP just after a wave passes so I can get the rudder down and pop off the bungee and am hopefully ready to pedal a few seconds before the next wave hits. If you can have the pedal drive and the rudder in place and are moving forward in time, the Adventure will pierce the breakers head on nicely.
