I will most likely purchase a 2001 getaway this weekend for $3200. Everything seems to be in good working order. The only thing bothering me is the seller has told me there are surface cracks were the wings mount to the hulls. Should I be overly concerned about this?

I had a getaway and didn't experience any cracks. That being said, even though they are not below the waterline, I would be concerned. Not so much for leaks but the thought of them getting longer/ larger.

I have no experience with this to relate, but given the knowledge that the poly used in Waves and Getaways is considered to be super tough but "non-repairable", I'd be passing on that particular purchase.

Check it out but if they're, indeed, cracks....I'd avoid it.

After speaking with hobie I decided to purchase the boat. They knew exactly what I was talking about and assured me that it was a cosmetic problem. The boat seems solid as a rock so I'm not to concerned about it. I will keep an eye on them for sure

These cracks are where the cross beam meet the hull. Cracks are about 1 inch long and seem to just be on the surface

These hulls will not crack " just on the surface". They will go through. I would steer clear from the boat. There are others out there.

The cracks are on the outside of the hull coming off the aluminum where the wings mount. How can I post a picture?

He didn't say he contacted hobie about the cracks!!! And. He just bought the boat last weekend. I doubt they have grown since then.

I too just bought a used 2006 Getaway with two 3 inch cracks, one in each hull that goes through the hulls. One is on the outside of the port hull 2" below where the aft cross member connects and the other is on the inside of the starboard hull 2" below where the aft cross member connects. My research concludes that these would be very difficult to impossible to fix. However, I've come across a product called G Flex Epoxy (http://www.westsystem.com/ss/repair-kit ... %20res.jpg ).

Has anyone used this on the getaway with success?
