Hi Gang - Our newer boat (2003 or 2006) has a different tack connection at the bridle (different from the 1978). There is a carabiner bolted to the adjusters. The new boat has an aussie halyard.

Is this the stock configuration? If so, do I have it rigged properly? It also has a sort of a downal for the luff of the jib that I need to tie each I put on the sail. The old one did not. Here are a couple of pictures - let me know if you cannot see them:

Ditch the bolt/'biner and attach the luff wire to the bridle with a bow shackle just like you did on your '78. A wad of small dacron line is used to attach the jib tack to the luff wire thimble for luff tensioning. (Your '78 probably had this at the top rather than the bottom.) That junk has nothing to do with the Aussie halyard.
