Just finished making the rod holders. I want to thank (ckossuth) for the inspiration. I also installed the lowrance elite 5 dsi with a ram mount. And the yak attack visicarbon. Let me know what y'all think. I'm hitting the water tomorrow. ImageImageImageImage

How do you like the Elite 5? I'm thinking about getting one.

Nice job on the rod holders. I would use shorter bolts on the RAM mount, you would not want to hang a rod on one of them and they may scratch the rod in the top tube.

Mike-

I like the elite but I'm still playing with it. I can't adjust the sensitivity but I like the size of the screen and how it looks. There's no fish alarm only a depth alarm. In currently using AA batteries placed in the from hatch bucket.

Bruce-
Thanks for the advice, I didn't realize how much they stick out. I'm just going to cut them shorter.

Very nice on the rod holders. I've been thinking about doing one exactly like that but wasn't sure how it would turn out because of the angle of the factory rod holders. Now I know.... PERFECT! Did you flare the ends with a heat gun and wine bottle?

I glued everything with PVC cement except for one of the 90° elbow that way I can take it off from there and it can come off with no problems. Because of the angle it won't come off unless I remove that screw.
I flared the tips with a Torch and wine bottle and it was easy. On the two side ones I cut it so the rods would lock I put them in. Image
