Hey mate. The tubes go right down through the scuppers and after reading Alan's comment, I did think that maybe some additional loading could be added at to the scupper side walls so I added some PVC pipe to strengthen and distribute any extra loading. The tube frame is also supported by the crossbar and the hull. It rests on that lateral hull rib that the water bottle is moulded into, which acts as the fulcrum. The load on the crossbar is sideways trying to push the crossbar forward, and the load on the scuppers is on the sidewalls trying to push the scuppers back. If the tube didn't go into the scuppers, the seat would fall forward under load.

I'm yet to give it a decent run. In fact it's out of action waiting for new bits but new Akas are arriving tomorrow so I should be back on the water at the weekend.

Hey Chris. Nothing major. Just wasn’t happy with the dissimilar metal rivet corrosion issue so we came to an agreement. Everyone’s happy.

Just thinking - if you are keeping the old akas and you have a pipe bender, you might like to try my mod of raising the amas about 6".

It's old news now mate. Anyway, it's academic if you don't have a spare set of akas.

Don't want to hijack your thread, but the story of you trading up your akas sounds interesting in its own right.
