So I saw this red tramp and thought that's pretty cool! After losing my classic 78 Orange 16 to an auto accident, I purchased another 16, she had red sails. I showed my son the eBay page with tramp... He wanted to see where the bidding was and put in 220.00, and was immediately outbid. He put in 222.50 and was winning. He was sure that someone would outbid him... Nobody did!lol so by accident I got a new red tramp for Father's Day! It is a nice tramp and I look forward to using it.

Very cool, you will have fun talking to all the Hobie folks that have never seen a red tramp, I would spend the 30 bucks for a grommet kit and double grommet the tramp at some point.

Jerome, we will all be there, wouldn't miss it for the world! We are building a fith boat to give to Alex... He has wanted a Hobie for a long time, he's a great kid. Looking for a used tramp for that boat. So we are trying to figure out how to get 5 boats down and four boats back.

So I'm hijacking my own thread. I sold this vintage red tramp and just ordered a used hobie brand tramp of eBay (right color this time). Anyhow the new used tramp has the double grommets so I'm guessing its a newer vintage, but it seems much lighter in weight. I don't have the red one to compare any longer but the red one felt thick and rubbery. This new used one feels thin and almost crispy, like a sheet of paper. Granted this one is used, but the difference seems significant. Did hobie "lightweight" the tramps at some point or is this a sign of wear? Should I be concerned?
