Here is the Snippet that just went out in the Fleet email

Wally Myers is coming as a guest expert to our very own Frayed Knot Regatta, Sept 28-29.

Wally is a 5 time National Champion on the Hobie 16, and 3 time National Champion on the Hobie 17. His National Championships were won against some of the very best... Including guys with Hobie in their name if you know what I mean... He is that good!

On Friday Sept 27th... If it is at all possible I would highly encourage you to join us at the lake that afternoon. Wally has graciously volunteered to share his love of the sport with us and spend time individually with as many people as he can. Friday will be more of a typically relaxed Hobie day to just spend with Wally teaching, and learning what we can. The Fleet is VERY excited about this opportunity.

If you can't make it during the day on Friday, don't sweat it..

Friday at 6:00pm Wally, the man who wrote the H16 rigging and tuning guide in the highly regarded Hobie University materials will be there to teach rigging and tuning on your own boat. In this class I am certain everyone, from the newest of sailors, to the most experienced will all be able to learn something. This class isn't just for the racers, even the guys and gals who don't race will benefit from this class.

On Saturday and Sunday Wally will be joining us for the racing action on a Hobie 16... Then on Saturday night we will be learning racing tactics and strategy from one of the very best in the game.

The Frayed Knot is going to be an epic weekend of fun, food, friends and experience!!!

Looks for more details coming soon!

I started racing against Wally in the early 80's and he is still a gracious guy who shares his knowledge and techniques freely.

Those thinking of attending the regatta have a great opprtunity here.

BAM!!!

This weekend it is on! The Fleet has been working hard on this one. Great times, lot of learning, good food, and good friends are all sure to be found rain or shine!!!

Our raffle is going to be extra special this year.. Without hesitation everyone in the Fleet leadership decided ALL proceeds from the raffle would be going to help Ron Hilton...

Here is the Story...

Call To Action - Colorado Hobie Sailor wiped out by Colorado Flooding.

It's just not very often we have such widespread and dramatic calamities here in Colorado, not like a Huricane Katrina or the Windsor Tornado a few years ago. Last week we one of our own, Ron Hilton and family took a direct hit along with thousands of others here on the Colorado Front Range.
The Saint Vrain River, normally 20 ft wide and well down the hill from their house turned into a raging torrent well over 100 ft wide, deep and fast. Ron and his 80 year old mom awoke to water swirling up 3 ft on one side the house and a full river AT the front door, water all around. They got out barely in time and hiked many miles to eventually be taken out by rescue crews. The house, garage, workshop and everything in them is a total loss. In the picture, the brown roof is Ron's house of 3 generations now in the middle of St Vrain River.

The Hobie Fleet 61 and Fleet 50 have been a large part of Ron's life with Ron always one of the biggest volunteer hearts around. Now it's his turn to let what goes around come around. We want to help Ron and his family recover.

Cash donations can be sent to:
BANK OF THE WEST, 800-488-2265
3800 ARAPAHOE AVENUE
BOULDER, CO 80303
ACCOUNT # 032244632, in care of Ron Hilton

I spoke to Ron this morning and he is starting into the process of FEMA funds, considering options and of course shopping for clothes etc. Please do what you feel you can to help Ron and family. Hobie Fleets 61 & 50 thank you for participating.

A big THANK you to the HCANA, Wally Myers, and everyone who participated in this Regatta!!!!!

The weather proved challenging, and yet many drove great distances in spite of a less than favorable forecast to take part in 5 tough races...

We sure appreciate that... and are glad everyone came to share in some, good food, great friends and plenty of fun times.

I know it was a fun and educational weekend for me.

Again.. Thanks to the HCANA for the GEP program and all who made this happen!!!!
