If you can place in new loactions it is better. Larger (1/4") rivets are possible, but we don't have them.

20 mph wind. 3 people sailing on our 3 month old Wave. The sail caught a gust of wind and the following occurred:

1. Shroud wire snapped
2. Heard a very loud "crack" sound and base of mast broke. Mast & sail fell into water, downwind.
3. Front of one of the pontoons was pulled by the bridle, and bent towards the midline of the boat.

We were bummed to miss a great day of sailing, and bummed that these things happened to our relatively new Wave.

Is this covered by the Warranty? How can we quickly fix our boat so that we don't miss future days of sailing?

Thanks,
Mayard

Warranty?

The shroud should not have failed...the rest is the result of that failure. See your dealer and file a claim. If the wire was not damaged from improper rigging (kinked) or the actual failure was a loose clevis pin or other rigging error, we will take care of it.

Matt,

I had a similar problem trying to lower my Getaway mast using the trailer winch. The mast seemed to be going down sideways as intended but it must obviously have caught, and now I have a cracked base (see http://www.hobiecat.com/community/viewt ... 9&start=15 thread).

That sideways business has been bugging me for a while as it makes it much harder to rig a system to raise and lower the mast.

As I need to replace the base, can I replace it with the base from the H21SC (it seems from the litterature I found that it allows the mast to go up and down in a fore-aft orientation)? It also appears to rotate on a ball similar to that of the Getaway.
