Rudder Pin Falling Out - 2012 PA12

Has anybody had problems with their rudder pin coming out on their PA?

I bought my 2012 PA12 brand new a little less than a year ago. The last time I took mine out, was the fifth time this year that mine has fallen out while on the water. When this happens the rudder just hangs out by the rope that raises and lowers it and I have to be towed in.

I fixed the problem with some safety wire through the pin,but was wondering if anyone has had the same problem. I called Kayak Fishing Supplies/OEX, the dealer I bought it from, but they had never heard of it.

Yup, it happened to me once. Then I applied a dot of goop to the smaller end of the tapered pin as suggested by a forum member. Haven't had a problem since, and I know I can still pick-off the dot of goop to remove the pin if I need to. I also keep a couple spare pins in my tackle box, just in case.
