I've been sailing a H18 on lake Michigan and Lake Charlevoix for about a month. Outside of the Red Fox regatta I have not found any organized events for beach cats in the area. So, I was wondering if there were other beach cat sailors in the area that would like to get together for informal races. Also, I am short 1 person for my crew, so if anyone wants to sail on a hobie 18...

Hi,

Just saw your message unfortunately. I live for two months on Lake Leelanau. About an hour south of you. I'm very interested in the H18, but have never sailed on one. I have a Hobie Tandem Island.

Unfortunately, I don't live up north accept for July and August. I woulda love to go for a ride with ya.

Maybe next year??

Maybe next year, I start graduate school in the spring and I am not sure where I will be in the summer.

There is a group in Michigan called CRAM (of which I'm a member). We organize and/or participate in about 7-8 regattas a year, including a couple in Northern Michigan (Charlevoix in early June and Higgins toward the end of Sept.) You can find our schedule here: http://cramsailing.com/regattas/schedule/

The Portsmouth fleet seems to be growing this year with an H20, several H18s and H16s joining several of the regattas. We'll be in Tawas this weekend. Looking forward to some fantastic weather and conditions.

Jeff
