Amazing isn't it? I can't believe how much better that boat flies...
I missed the ferry this AM, so got stuck up here in Marin-- no watching them today...just working.

Point and click has the forecast winds just inside the gate for tomorrow a bit high in the afternoon....

Tuesday: W wind 6 to 11 kt increasing to 14 to 19 kt in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 26 kt. Sunny.

This just beats all... the series is now tied 8-8. Tomorrow will decide it.

Unbelievable. NZL gave it away when they tacked off starboard when they were going to cross. Why the heck did they do that? Not that I'm complaining.

They had right of way. Giving up right of way is not something you do.

Seems to have been a gross miscalculation of boat speed. They made the decision to tack and then Oracle got onto it's foils and closed the door.

After race one this morning, Oracle USA had swept 6 races in a row, blowing past their penalty position. They lost the start of race 2 badly and still pulled another win out of their butts (7 straight).

The next race decides it all.

50mph exceeded today in perfect conditions.

Foiling is so cool.

This series has everything. Speed, technology, competition, venue. Also got to say that the professionalism of the organisation is 2nd to none. That detail goes right through to the website. I watched races 17 and 18 live in HD on the computer at 6am this morning without a hiccup.
Thanks again NOHUHU for this thread. Bring on Race 19.

My emotions are incredibly different from the last time there was a huge come-from-behind effort, when the Aussies beat Dennis Conner 4-3 from being 1-3 down to win the Cup in 1983, breaking a 117 year stranglehold. That event is still regarded in Australia as the most memorable moment in the history of our country.

This time it is only the New Zealanders in the firing line.....

Ya mean the guys with DUBAI written all over their boat..... Who seem to be insisting the other team is the one with all the resources...

At the start of this thing I didn't really care... Just enjoyed the boats.. but some of the stuff those ETNZ fans have been saying on the AC cup page and FB have really made me an Oracle fan at this point....

Loving this!!!!

I'll be watching the big race today on two screens. HIDEF cable and the "virtual eye" on my laptop.

In many ways, I'm finding the interactive virtual eye more compelling than the most excellent HDTV coverage. It has no broadcast delay so you can actually see the boats turning before they on the video.

This may be the future of network sports coverage. Give it a try.

And GO USA!!

Yep, I've become a USA fan as well ( dunno what happened to my ANZAC spirit ). But I've got 4 countrymen on Oracle and 2 on Emirates so it's just a numbers thing.

All things considered, I think the USA certainly deserved to win after all they've been up against, but New Zealand did not deserve to lose. I watched the news conferences after each race and felt bad for Dean Barker and team. All the NZ guys are gentlemen and have been gracious in both victory and defeat.

I'm very glad the Cup will stay here and can only applaud the gentlemanly conduct on both sides. It appears that the America's Cup remains a civil endeavor in a world where so many sporting events are now anything but.
