This year we visited the wonderful camping Thalatta. We were together with a lot of friends and had great fun.

The caravan took off from Sunny Beach - Bulgaria

Some of us had too much walking

The latest addition to the kayak- Downrigger :)

The first 4-5 days the weather was not very nice, but there was enough fish. Mostly it was pecking a raglou 6.5 cm . followed by wobbler 9-11 cm of wobblers were pecked mainly by bonitos, everything else was nibbling raglous. We decided to diversify by jigging, but there was a small success- a little ricciola and countless blades that were returned to the sea :)

There were great places for jigging. There were edges where the depth suddenly changed from 50m to 17m
Image

We were trying different pilkers, but caught only small blades and some other reddish creatures that were thrown back.
Image

We had fun but it was not what we were targeting :)
Image

Besides the pilkers we had Yo-zuri De Luxe Tenya, Shimano Lucanus & Shimano Bottom Ship
It turned out that the shrimps I ordered for Tenya were too big and were destined to the grill :)

The weather was fine again the list of entertainments was expanded :)

I found some goodies from the kayak with dual use :)
Image

Oops, too many kayaks. The trend was less kayaks moving the old fashioned way- using paddles :)

More friends arrived with heavy machinery

and larger TV sets :)

There were moments when I was like a tripping boat, but the rods were on the stands

Such places unlock numerous talents. One of my favorites was cooking and here are some dishes

Own catch- Tuna, Bonito and Melanur

Sea bass

Some creatures

The next few days were for meat:
Lamb fillet and french Rack of Lamb
Add them plenty of oregano, a little pepper and salt, then pour over with a lot of olive oil
Image

A few hours to absorb the flavors and then ready for the fire

Octopus:

A fast glimpse from the kitchen to the dry dock:

After being baked, the octopus was sprinkled with oregano and poured over with plenty of olive oil

Beef tenderloin steaks marinated with salt, thyme, rosemary, sun-dried tomatoes, lots of olive oil and a few cloves of garlic :

Trite, but again on the grill

During the last two days the boats were more successful at Toroni and Porto Koufo but generally everyone was complaining .
I personally was pleased with these ten pleasant days shared with friends. I hope next year we can do at least two or three such organized assaults on Greek shores.

Excellent pictures. Looks like a beautiful place. How far did you drive: starting location to destination?

Looks like you had plenty of food.

Starting point: Hote Dune - Sunny Beach - Bulgaria.
Endpoint: Thalatta Camp - Kalamitsi - Greece.
Route (876km/544mi)
Some of us came from a "short" distance - Sofia (475km/295mi) and Plovdiv (605km/375mi). I am also from Sofia, but I spent the whole summer season in Sunny Beach.

So jealous...with our season coming into the cold/rainy time and my ankle in a cast ( major rebuild), I have nothing to do but work and plan mods, and vicariously live through you all.

Always amazes me when I see mileages from europe- 500 due south and I am still in California!
