Hi guys I am new to this forum. I have a old boat which the aluminum is starting to oxides and would like to paint/spray it black. How do you remove anodizing if necessary and what under cote/ primer can I use. I got suggested Zinc chromate or epoxy primer? Thanks

Just sand the mast. I would use a self etching primer with and epoxy paint. I believe David Bell just used Black Primer on his. you would need to search his post.

Zinc Chromate is nasty stuff. I would suggest you read up on the MSDS sheets before considering messing around with it.

I spoke to some this afternoon and he suggested to just have the mast epoxy coated... is that a option???
