After dealing with a rather cold spring, we finally got the boat on the water this past weekend.
Saturday never warmed up like the weatherman had said it would, so we spent a good portion of the day tending to "boat projects". We patched a couple of holes in the main, cobbled a bracket fix for the new SitnSail wings until the new bracket arrives, and got everything squared away in case Sunday actually turned out to be decent.
And it was!
After getting things in shape for an open house (we're trying to move), the boys and I hitched up the trailer and took the boat out to our local pond, Lake Lansing, and dropped her in the water.
Winds were reasonable at about 8 mph, and we had a ball cruising the lake and trying out the new wing seats. What a gas! The seats make the boat feel like it's twice the size. Plenty of room and very comfortable! We sailed for about two hours, taking turns at the helm, and had a very enjoyable time.
Afterwards, we got the boat on the trailer, de-rigged and, after a quick stop at the gas station for goodies, headed on home.
Sailing season is finally here in Michigan and we can't wait to take "Burt" out on the water again.
Fair Winds,
Nick
