About 28 miles (45 km) and 65 starting kayaks.
Just one pedal driven kayak. Me in a Hobie Adventure.
Took me 5 hours and 57 minutes and that result placed me as number 21.
Fastest did it in 4 hour 46 minutes.

Of course there were some really fast race kayaks but also very skilled paddlers in standard sea kayaks.

There are some of us that think they can beat anything but surfskis.
Not true…

best regards

Wow! Excellent speed and amazing endurance! Considering that you're in a "recreational" kayak, your performance is amazing. Perhaps one day Hobie will put a Mirage Drive in a faster hull, then you can take on the rest of the field. Was this on a river, ocean or lake? Did you have any outrigger canoes (OC-1s or OC-2s in the competition? If so, how well did they do? Again, congratulations on a great job! 8)

4.7mph average over a 5+ hour stretch is very impressive. Way to go.

It was in big lake (Mälaren). Very big lake and conditions here can get serious. But on the race event it was flat water, non to very light winds. Perfect conditions. Last year the very same race took me just over 7 hours.
There were no outriggers in the race, just some real race kayaks, 2-3 surfskis, a handfull of very fast standard kayaks, mostly normal sea kayaks and one with a modified kayak with 2 oars (he was rowing!) and one (1!) Hobie Adventure Island in kayak mode (me).

One oldtimer (age 74) made it in 5 hours and 34 minutes. That was a real acheivement, whatever he sat in.

best regards and thanks for your comments!
