Me too, amazed that I got some good days in. Actually Halloween is supposed to be 60 and only 56 at night. Pretty amazing for northern MA. I could almost go out for one last sail.
I'm a bit north of Hogwldfltr, and I'm still sailing. Went out today to one of the best days of the year. Fifty degree air temperature, but the wind was consistent between 8 and 12 mph, and guess which is more important? Last year I went up to December and about a week or two before the lake I sail on froze over. A lot of days, if I don't capsize (which I usually don't), I'll be a little bit sweaty.
I wear a wet suit bottom, and spray shirt and spray jacket top. Wool hat, full gloves, and boots. I do back off on the maximum wind, and am looking at a max of 20 -25 mph. I sail conservatively with staying upright the goal over maximum speed. Important point to remember is there is no one else out, so help is at least 20 minutes away.
But I like fall and spring sailing. No one on the lake, no pesty rafts and moored boats to limit how close I can get to shore, and the trees have no leaves, making the wind near shore a lot more consistent.
Best of luck,
