Not sure, Matt said they were Grey Hulls.....

I thought Matt was talking about the world's boats having gray hulls. Is there a record of the hull serial numbers provided for such an event? Just trying to learn about my new to me H18sx. Thanks.

AFAIK, there are no records of the serial numbers from boats made 25 years ago (Matt M. can confirm that).

As for the 1989 18 Nationals boats, I only have the Hotline photos of the event to go by - and they don't show anything other than white (or light gray) boats.

At the 16 Nationals that year (in Chigaco), the boats were light gray, blue and yellow, with similar "splash" graphcs, so there may have been yellow boats at the 18 Nationals, too.

I most definitely have a 1989 Worlds boat because you can still the shadows of the original decals on the hulls. The hull color is a very light grey, and in fact most people might call it white until you put something white right beside it.

There was an 18 event in the late 80's that was on supplied 18 SX's. I believe the boats were sold with wings and a chute after the event. A good friend bought one.

That was the event with the "infamous" course 7 twice around.

I'll look at some old Hotlines for results etc.

Sad news.... my 1989 H18SX Nationals boat got hit by a keel boat trailer.Image
Lucky that the damage was small and easily repairable.
(Parked it for the winter in the dinghy yard, and keel boater misjudged while backing up).
The repair is being done professionally by one of the best in the business.

However, I may lose the splash graphic on one side....
Were you successful in creating a graphic for a decal?
If I need one..... it would be very much appreciated.

Better if you contact me off line at lunnjohn 'at' magma 'dot' ca
(I will be away Dec 6 -16, sailing a 51' Privilege in St V & G)

thanks and Happy Holidays

Meant to post these a while back. She's quite fun, and can't wait to get her "new legs" soon. Pretty steep learning curve from last sail on a 16 almost 2 years ago. ImageImage
