How fast can I go on the Interstate w/a Wave & Trailer?

Going to buy a Wave w/Wave trailer, but doing about 1,000 miles Interstate driving... ( I'm going on the road trip anyway, so will get the Wave, and pull it back home... )

So with those little 8 inch wheels, what's the rated speed?

Towing w/a Toyota 4 runner.

How fast?

In California... 55 MPH is the maximum for Trucks and Trailers. Your State / States you travel in may be different. I have trailered for years on 8" wheels and heavier loads without issue.

Also remember, if you are trailering...most states will require you to drive in the right most lanes. California requires you to drive in the slow lane unless passing.

Personally, I wouldn't take them over about 60 mph. I had two 4.80x12 tires come apart at 70mph under my H-17.

which drive me crazy. Huge SUVs going 90mph... and you know they don't have the brakes or suspension, and probably poor underinflated tires.... to stop or handle well at those speeds..!! << I digress >>

Honestly I'm not aware of any max speeds for pulling trailers.

I know you're neither a lawyer or cop or safety expert... but I'm just looking for practical friendly advice or experience from the forum... can I drive the posted 70mph limit w/the Wave trailer?

Or 60mph?

I don't want to backup traffic nor cause any harm to the boat/trailer/rig, etc....

I've cruised at 65 - 70 mph for hours on I-5 pulling a H16. The trailer had 12" tires. Never had a problem mechanical or CHiP-wise. Whatever speed you do use make sure your tires are inflated to rated psi. I saw a tire on a power boat trailer explode. It threw a hulk of rubber that cleared the fender and put a good sized hole in the hull.

Mud flaps might not be a bad idea either as a lot of road crap ends up on the keels and tramps.

Check the bearings once in a while by jacking up the trailer and spinning the wheels. If they spin smoothly and are fairly quiet then all is good. If they sound like a garbage disposal it's time to replace the bearings.

I've got my son's Wave double stacked on top of a Hobie 17.

I find it's best to get 'em up to at least 70 mph to clean the carbon out every once in awhile.
