You can fix it yourself. Assuming you don't own an industrial sewing machine, you will likely have to do it by hand. I've done repairs to tramps using a hand needle and it's worked fine, just takes a little while. I can't tell you what size the needle was, but I don't think it was anything special. I've gotten nylon sail thread from seattlefabrics.com and sailmakerssupply.com. I believe it was called V60 or something like that. Anyway, if you do it by hand, the important thing is to try to go back through the original holes in the tramp, otherwise it will be more difficult to punch through. Having a pair of pliers on hand is helpful to pull the needle through. If you try to push the needle, you can end up breaking it.
