How recently were colored hulls available to order? A yellow 1989 Hobie 18 came up and I didn't think they were available by then.

Thanks for the history,

Colored hulls were available on the 18 from their introduction in 1977 through the early-'90s, although most hulls made after '89 were white.

We still do the occasional custom color hulls.

Thanks, for that.

Thinking bout the hull colors made me wonder if Hobie had considered doing different hull colors for the rotomolded boats?

We have, but colors absorb more heat and soften plastic. OK on a kayak, but the cats have a lot more stress on them. For the same reasoning though... too many SKUs for dealers by adding a variety of color options. If we sold as may cats as we do kayaks... maybe.

My new to me '89 Formula 18/ SX has yellow hulls still in great shape. How would I go about finding out how many of these were built? Looking for newer sail suit for it.

I imagine they would do any color you want, as long as your money is green.

Really, it's just a matter of cleaning out the gel coat gun, loading it with any color you want, then cleaning it out again.
