Hi all
I've been working out the kinks of my 'new to me' 2011 i14T (Christmas present). We took it out last week and within 20 feet the left rudder line snapped, right where it enters the rudder bolt. I used the paddle to steer, so we stayed out on the water, had a blast.
I got replacement spectra rudder line, and restrung both lines, cleaned up and lubed the tiller and replaced the rudder pin (there was the older type in there, with the modified rudder housing, so no line guide) with a new style one with the line guide. I had that set so the hole was to starboard as directed by my local dealer. As soon as I started testing the rudder control, I felt a slight pop and now the pin faces totally aft.
I tried to orient it back to starboard but it's a no go. It contacts the rudder housing and I can't move it any further. Any ideas if this is going to be a problem or should things be ok?
Also, can someone tell me which rudder I have? It doesn't look like the one in the 'large rudder for i-series' post by mmiller - its has that notch at the bottom. It measures 7 inches across, right were the notch is.
Cheers
Loving this kayak- cant wait to get it back on the water once work cools down a bit.
