I can't even imagine what it's like to live with icy conditions like you guys have to put up with every year. Down here in Louisiana we get mad when the water temp gets below 50 deg. because that's when the fish get lock jaw, and fishing takes on a challenge we're not use to at all. But I have to give it to you for the determination you have for fishing.
We too fish a power plant outflow where the water is about 15 degrees warmer than away from same. And the fish really congregate in that canal. But it's not a well kept secret, and first come first serve. I've seen it where there are 15 power boats in the 20 foot range crammed into the outflow canal, and there isn't even 10 feet between boats - a nightmare and casting is non-existent.
Keep up the addiction to fish, and I wish you well with an early ice melt. As I write this thread though, I see that the weather is again turning sour for you all up north. Hang in there, it's got to get better soon; I hope.
Thanks for the thoughts of warmth!!!
It was fricken -10 this morning when I went out to start the car!! UGH. I need to kayak fish!!
