How good was that!!!
...and all on the 30th anniversary of Australia 11's historic win!
Hearing all those Aussie accents on board it wouldn't have felt out of place to hear "Downunder" come blasting out over the speakers again, just like in '83!

That was a crazy nose dive. Almost as exciting as the Wheelie that the Kiwis performed in race 8! That moment nearly ended everything and somehow the Emirates team was never the same after that.

I see from the Magic Eye that Oracle took Larry E for a joyride on the way back to the docks. The boys still had a little Red Bull in them and broke 50mph just for giggles.

Amazing hardly describes this series. Congrats to both teams. You're all winners, and really elevated the sport of competitive sailing.

Nice! And Hobie didn't have to pay $$$$ for ad space on those carbon fiber hulls.

The world is ready. This would seem the perfect time to dust off those plans you have on the shelf for the new foiling Adventure trimaran, code-named: "Treasure Island".

Beta testing to be preformed in Hawaii,..

Time to revisit the greatest comeback in sports history…

I just found this excellent WSJ recap of this dramatic racing series. It's complete with some great graphics, race history, technical explanations and behind the scenes glimpses of moments that contributed to its stunning outcome. You won't believe just how tenuous things were as the oracle team sought to keep a grip on their hopes of winning the "next" race.

I realize we didn't cure cancer or solve all the world's problems here, but the sometimes surprising way this series came together (and captured the world's attention), really speaks to the great potential that we all have as human beings. It was the ultimate "underdog" story, and a great achievement for everyone involved. (Except maybe the Italian fashion industry  ).

NOHUHU, perhaps we can forgive you for overlooking the ultimate comeback story when Australia II came from 1-3 down to win the 1983 Cup for the first time in ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY SEVEN YEARS!

Hey Tony - Credit where credit is due.

A true international effort, led by an Aussie skipper who also is a great guy. The sailors, designers and pit crew did all the work. An American provided the boats, the bankroll and the vision.

Hoping Larry will hold the next one in my and Kayaking Bobs backyard.

It's all fun til someone loses an eye, and considering the speed of those suckers, a lot more than eyes are at risk. Sadly my ISP contract doesn't give me the bandwidth to be able to watch all those awesome cat races, and watching Moths on their foils is a hopeless consolation prize.

I hope they do move the Cup races to Hawaii... save lots of airfares for the crews

That event was such a buzz. So much so that I swore that I'd go to the next one. If it were in Hawaii, that would be even more of an incentive.

Better start saving. :D
