So as you can tell pretty much a copy of what's been done. Just substituted 1" copper pipe for the PVC. Used some 1" copper clamps from lowes and screwed those to the hobie bungee padeyes. I robbed them from one of the paddle holders, the one on the steering lever side, used 3/8x3/4" Allen socket screws. The rest is pretty explanatory from pics I think. It seems rock solid. Can't test it for a while but I got confidence ! Oh the seat is pretty big, I robbed it off a fishcat at my house. But you can see the rear of it rests on the bulk head so it's making contact there and the pipe if course

Well I sat in it and now I'm thinking it's not goin to be comfortable while using the mirage drive....sigh. I think I have found the seat that josh from modern kayak fishing was using so I'll try that. I'm also looking into using maybe fiberglass to mold a seat that will rest in the cockpit

Keep up the effort ! Thanks for posting what works and doesn't for you. I've been wanting to go on this path of discovery about this subject also and it's nice to learn what's not working for others. It's nice to have options.

Persist with it Matt, the skipper seat is one of the best mods I've ever made. I hope your's can be adjusted in some way so that you can get the full use out of it.
