I'm just posting this in the hopes that someone in the Gulfport, Mississippi area can help me out. I have a 1978 Hobie 16 in excellent condition, only problem is I'm kinda stumped when it comes to setting it up. I just need someone to show me the ropes.

Head on over to the Ocean Springs Yacht Club. There are lots of Hobie sailors there who would be glad to help you.

Make plans to head that way next weekend ( Ocean Springs ) if you can. Lots of pro H16 guys will be there. I'll be there on my H20 but I've sailed a ton on my H16 the last few years and would be glad to help. Look over the hobie 16 forum on this site and read everything you can, download the hobie 16 manual, pick up the parts lingo. Ever sail at all? Any other catamaran? Brand new to everything?
Once you get a dozen trips on the 16 it's easy. Racing it is a whole other story :)

Yea that would be awesome if your in ocean springs this weekend. Ive sailed on an H14 once before, but it was already set up. I knew that I loved it though that's why I kinda pre-maturely bought the boat.

No such thing as prematurely buying a boat! Life is short, boats are cool.
