I sold off some toys laying around the garage and I have a nice budget to apply to my new pA14 that's sitting over at the dealer waiting on me.
So my question to you guys is: if you had a "more than enough" budget to sink into an "ultimate pro angler" what would you get?? I do mostly big water striper fishing and drifting for fluke all over the northeast..as well as some lake fishing for largemouth
Here's a list of what I'm thinking so far:
2014 PA14 olive green
Lowrance elite 5 HDI gold
Yak attack/ram mounts 1" screwball and quick release FF mount
2 yak attack gear tracks 12" on either sideboard
2 yak attack zooka tubes on 1 1/2 screwballs
Tackle webs seat storage mesh bags for vantage seat
Seadek pa14 kit in Army camo
Drop in bucket replacement for flip up tackle management
Larger rudder
Yak attack visipole
Battery tray for rear hatch
Yak attack nightstripe

I'd say your good to go. While you are at George and Cathy's place, pick up one of waterbugs kayak rescue ladders to right that beast if you turtle.

The only think I haven't done to mine yet (it's still on the list) is to add a baitwell on the back cargo area that also would hold rods, Hawg Trough, etc. mounted on the sides. I pretty much settled on a fish tote by Fat Walley Coolers. The fish tote is insulated and is basically a nice box shape with a latched lid. I had envisioned mounting one of those Sea Urchin hand pumps and do what Scott Loving in Australia did to a cooler for a bait well. The hand pump would work fine for adding more fresh water and the setup would not require a battery source. It could also double as a fish chest or storage compartment. It just depends on how I decide to do it.

Meanwhile I just ordered one of these floating bait wells to hook to the dock to keep shiners in that I catch out of the lake. For lake use I might just tow it around with me. :D

I didn't see any anchoring system on you list. I'd suggest dual anchor trollies to allow you to position your kayak in a current, a nice little 2 lb claw anchor like Austin Kayak sells and a quick release line and float like the folks on Palmetto kayak put together. Small money and good functionality once you find the fish!

I was actually given a waterbug self rescue ladder by the man himself at the Duke of Fluke a few years back..great product..wouldn't leave the beach without it. Fortunately I haven't had to use it yet.

Great idea on the dual anchor trolley setup

As far as anchoring goes I use a Bruce claw setup that works well in the mighty deleware..I was thinking of trying this cooper anchor I saw on YouTube.http://youtu.be/yS0XQEkuNrU Anybody have any experience with these? (Maybe I'll start another thread)
Here's a pic of my anchor setup. Thanks guys

Pretty much my exact setup except I have LED lights instead of nightstripe and I have two batteries back to back mounted on sail mast post up front. Just installed the large rudder tonight and plan on hitting the water tomorrow. I would suggest going with the 1-1/2" screwball instead of the 1" for the FF. Due to size makes it a bit sturdier and then all your screwball are same size (i.e. Zooka tubes) and are all interchangeable.

I have the cooper anchor but have not had a chance or need to try yet. I also ended up mounting 12" Geartracs on the gunnels between the hand rails and mounting boards. That is where I actually mount by FF and it is pretty much out of the way.

Wow I really ike the two battery setup..I'm guessing you have them run in parallel...great idea.
I had leds on my pa12. I hardly used them and found they seamed to be a headache and possible short point in my wiring. I have a portable led fish light I use. Sometimes I bungee it to a pier or dock and come back to it later. I'm gonna shy away from any extra electronics besides the FF this time(and maybe dbl battery). Ill sacrifice bling for basic reliability and comfort.

I'm also rethinking mounting my FF on the sideboards..the area between the grab bars and the sideboard does seam more "out of the way" and "user friendly". Especially when pulling a pig striper over the side. Same yak attack setup though. His gear is just so good..especially these new locking ram balls http://www.yakattack.us/TBK_1003_p/tbk-1003.htm

I like your choices, but i would have one anchor system on my yak and I would have the tackle management system and not the drop in bucket... I would have a bucket system behine me with the tackle I thing I would need extra. Just me two cents worth.. Now if you have already had a PA with the tackle mang. system and did not like it then I would go with what you know you do like... bucket? Good Luck

for the type of fishing i do i think the center hatch is much better served as dry storage than for tackle management...keys wallet cell its what i did on my last pa and it worked well

I actually just have the second battery on stand by and can reach up and switch over if necessary. I sometime go out for several days with no access to power so gives me back-up.

I prefer the bucket. I like you throw phone, wallet, keys etc in there. I have two large Plano boxes under the seat. I have the one small Plano in the tackle web and can put the other on other side if needed. I actually pulled the tackle management tray out and bungeed it to the back of the seat. Works well and is out of way.

Hope I do not have issues with LED's though. All are waterproof and I ran separate circuits to a switch panel so issue with one will not affect others.

I second the motion to consider the YakAttack BackPak. It really helps with storage and additional rod-holders. What are you doing for transport and storage?

If you fish where you can use one, don't forget a Stick It Pin or something like that. Much easier to use in marsh than an anchor.

Safety flag/light combo.

Inflatable PFD for warm water use. Horse collar or belt pack / auto-inflate or manual inflate - these choices depend on you, your swimming ability and the amount of boat traffic you expect to encounter.

A made for kayak-fishing PFD for cool water use such as the Extrasport Osprey?

My 2¢, worth every nickel you paid. :D

I had a pair of 4" YakAttack GT175 on my first PA12 for a RAM Tube 2008 & Lowrance Mark-4.....kept hitting them when I was either poling or using a SUP while standing.

Image

When I got my latest PA12 this past July, I decided to go with a pair of 12" GT90's installed (w/backing) on the gunnels between the side boards and side handles and replaced the tube with a YakAttack Zooka Tube/RAM Tube Jr....problem solved.

Image

Image

I use a YakAttack BlackPak installed with my "Bombproof Mounting System", I started with 1 single 12" GT90 to hold a VISICarbon Pro and Panfish camera pole for a Swann HD video camera.
I've since switched the single track for a pair of 12" GTSL90's in yellow.

Currently, I use either a 6 or 8' Park-n-Pole in conjunction with a starboard mounted anchor trolley, I was planning on installing another on the port side but may hold off on that as I have a Power-Pole Micro Anchor waiting for pick-up at the factory in Tampa (May 8th :D ).

I used this Harmony SlideTrax Molded Fitting on my trolley in place of the small black nylon cable clamp...does a great job of keeping the lines out of the cockpit.

* Would love to install a SeaDeck or Ocean Grip deck treatment, but I go into a new boat every July.
