I just bought a Hobie 17. I am planning to paint both the hulls
In removing the tramp I noticed there is no slot from which to slide the tramp retaining cord through. Is this a design flaw? Also I'm looking to remove the bars that connect the halls the access hole is not large enough to except the socket!? Does Hobie make a special tool for this?

On the earlier boats, you have to remove the crossbars in order to slide the tramp off (no opening in the crossbar track).

The crossbars are held on with socket head screws. Use a hex wrench (allen wrench) to remove the crossbars. A T-handle wrench works best and will fit through the hole in the top of the crossbar.
