Uh...Yeah...I appreciate your opinion about getting the fish in the boat first...and that may be true for most fish...but certainly not halibut in my opinion. Those halibut are freakishly strong and very unpredictable. You pull a halibut onto your lap, it could freak out, break all your rods, wipe your fishfinder off your kayak, slap you in the face...and get away.
What you didn't see in the video is after it was secured it was bled and subdued with several hard whacks to the head by a bat. If you don't subdue them first....baaaaaad things can happen...and just because they look dead doesn't mean that they are...like I said unpredictable, and dangerous. But sure as hell fun to watch!
