Use insurance proceeds and buy another boat. Part out what you don't need.

Seriously, that's your best course of action, especially since the parts you need (hulls) aren't available new anymore - and even if they were, you're looking at thousands of dollars to replace them.

So we had someone check it, turns out the hulls are fine, just the top where one of the crossbars connects needs a little repair. The crossbars would have to be welded or I would have to find them off another 17. We have a welder friend giving us a quote.

Also, the mast is bent on the bottom half but no kinks.

Everything else about the boat is in great condition, seems a shame to throw the baby out with the bathwater??

Crossbars should be available if needed.

Welding will remove the heat treatment in the area of the weld, significantly weakening the crossbar. Not recommended.

Hi,

I have a Hobie 17 that is complete and for sale for a very reasonable price. A few of the wing pockets need repairs as well as a few other spots on the hulls, but everything else is fine, so it would be a great source of parts for you. The mast, crossbars, rigging and sails are all in good shape. The sail has had very little use, but is a little discolored from storage. All the connection points on the sail and all the batten pockets are in excellent shape which is proof of the fact the sail was used very little.
