If you're talking about the handle on the wire, then you generally can't replace it without cutting the wire.

Hobie does sell a screw-on replacement (part #2010) for about $25 each. You can get any color you want as long as it's black. They're a bit heavy, though - even though they're rubber padded, you'll know it when one hits you in the head.

If you get new trap wires made up, then you can get the blue Ronstan handles (about $11 from APS) put on.

If the age of the standing rigging and trap wires is unknown, it would be a good idea to replace all of it. This would give you new trap lines, some peace of mind, and you could use your current set as back up rigging.

A few weeks ago on lake travis we had a guy with an 80's H18 that he just picked up, crew was on the trap wire...when it snapped while flying a hull on a screaming reach.

Agreed. If your handles are broken they are probably very old. Replace the trap wire set.

If you are going to have them made consider going to doughnuts instead of handles.. I haven't made the switch yet.. But will be doing it very soon.. I have used a setup like this and love it..
